Rebekah Anna Deas Proffitt, 44, of Bedford, died Sunday, May 27, 2018. She was the beloved wife of Gary Proffitt for 24 years.
Rebekah was born on September 9, 1973, in Hialeah, Fla. She was the daughter of Perry R. Deas and Rebecca Dudley Deas.
Rebekah loved life and doing for others. She also loved crafts and was very artistic.
In addition to her husband and parents she is survived by her son, Ryan Proffitt; her brothers, Johnathan Deas, Benjamin Deas and Nancy, Nathan Deas and Rebekah, Timothy Deas and Stephanie; uncle and aunt, Bruce and Susan Turner; aunt, Sharon Jenkins; uncle, David Dudley and her father-in-law, Andrew Elliott. She is also survived by several brothers and sisters-in-law, Bob and Robin Caughey, Richard and Debbie Caughey, Jerry and Donna Scruggs, Ruth Giannas, Tony and Karen Womack, Mike and Cheryl Thomas, Wilton and Lisa Elliott, numerous nieces, nephews and beloved friends.
A celebration of Rebekah’s life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, June 1, 2018, at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, with Pastor Bruce Turner officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
