Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.

Rev. Kenneth Ray Whirley entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at his residence. He was preceded in death by his father, Lincoln Haden Whirley; mother, Juanita Younger Whirley Reeves; sisters, Crystal Bell Whirley Moorman, Elder Margaret Whirley Thomas Reeves; and brother, Calvin Lincoln Whirley.

Rev. Kenneth Whirley leaves to cherish his memories, his loving and devoted wife, Diane Johnson Whirley, of Madison Heights, Va; loving daughters, Sovonya Whirley and Kendra Whirley; loving sons, Kenneth Ray Jr., Demond (Tawana), and Damone Whirley, all of Lynchburg, Va., Deshawn and Jermaine (Tabitha) Whirley, of Cape Carol, Fl.; grandchildren, Laurell, Russulle, Michaya, Malachi, Simeon, Solomon, Olivia, Trevor, Kamel, Jermany, Kaiden, Akayla, Janayla, Karmen, Damia, Daymone, Demonte, Daneah, Kyrah, Ayden and Iesha; six precious greatgrandchildren; three sister, Minister Pearl Braxton, of Madison Heights, Va., Sinnie Ferguson, of Lynchburg, Va., and Jaunita Meadows, of Reidsville, Nc.; brother-in-law, Danny Johnson; sister-in-law’s, Margie Rucker and Mary Donigan and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Rev. Whirley loved the Lord and received Christ as and early age. He was baptized at the Rose Chapel Baptist Church and was known for his singing voice, preaching, and writing poetry. He was a bible scholar and graduated from the Eastern Seminary with a certificate in biblical studies. He was known to be an intellectual conversationalist and loved reading and helping others.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, October 28, 2024, at Tharp Funeral Home, Madison Heights.
