Rev. Lenn E. Lloyd was called home by his Lord on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at the age of 88, ten days shy of his 89th birthday. Lenn was married to the love of his life Barbara for 54 years before her passing twelve years ago. Lenn and Barbara were in ministry together and were a true team doing God’s work.
Lenn was the son of Samuel and Lizzie Lloyd. Lenn was the youngest of ten children. All of his siblings have passed before him: Annie, Carrie, Eva, Rosie, Molly, Beulah, Kenneth, Preston, and Lawrence.
Lenn was the proud father of Gary; Jonathan Heath and his wife Rachael; and his daughter Vicki and her late husband Scott Graham. Lenn is survived by his grandchildren, Hannah, Lucas, and Clair Lloyd, Katie Mehler, Jeff and Vince Graham, and Jonathan, Zachary, and Judson Lloyd. He is also survived by eight great grandchildren: Lily, Elly, Caleb, and Noah Mehler, Silas, Peter, and Abel Graham, and Emmett Graham. He is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Before his retirement, Lenn served as pastor of Leawood Baptist Church in Lynchburg and pastor of Sycamore Baptist Church in Gretna for many years. Everyone who met Lenn knew how proud he was to be a Christian, a child of God. He loved to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ with everyone he met. Lenn always had a song in his heart, and he sang and praised his Lord wherever he went. In his later years, Lenn struggled with Alzheimers yet he never met a stranger and he always told you that he loved you. Over the years, he walked the halls of Valley View and Runk and Pratt singing “Jesus Loves Me”. Lenn was indeed a good and faithful servant and there is no doubt that he is celebrating with his Lord and loved ones today!
The family would like to express gratitude to all the staff of Runk and Pratt and to his hospice nurse, Alice Powell, who took such wonderful care of him over the years.
To celebrate Lenn’s life the family will receive friends on Sunday, November 20th at Tharp Funeral Home in Lynchburg, from 3:00 to 5:00, with a funeral service to follow at 5:00 p.m. in the chapel with the Rev. J. Heath Lloyd, Pastor Mark Cheatham, and Rev. Dwight Weaver will officiating.
The family will be at Vicki’s home at other times.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” John 3:16.
