Reverend Nolan Ray Crowder

March 4, 1943 — November 5, 2017

Reverend Nolan Ray Crowder, 74, of Lynchburg, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 5, 2017. He was the loving husband of Sharon Davidson Crowder for 46 years.

Born March 4, 1943 in Bedford County, Va., Nolan was a son of the late Mack Henry Crowder, Jr. and Nelia Overstreet Crowder.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Bruce D. Crowder and his wife, Tabitha, Brian R. Crowder and his wife, Anna, and Christy C. Wilson and her husband, Charlie. He was loved by his cherished grandchildren, Andrew D. Crowder, Julia R. Crowder, Emma G. Crowder, Caitlyn M. Wilson, and Maxon C. Wilson. There are many nieces, nephews, and extended family that treasure his memory.

He is survived by two brothers, Henry D. Crowder and his wife, Mary, and Wesley I. Crowder and his wife, Pat.

Nolan was God’s servant pastoring in the United Methodist Church throughout Virginia for 33 years.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg. A celebration of Nolan’s life will follow at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday with Rev. Jim Stevens and Rev. Ronald Davidson officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
