Richard B. Culp, 80, went to be with the Lord on 20 October 2017. Originally from Minnesota, he graduated from the University of Minnesota, where he met Karen, his wife of 57 years, and he earned his graduate degree from the Johns Hopkins University. He served our country in the US Army for 23 years, with two tours in Vietnam, and then as a Soviet analyst. Richard and Karen retired to Heathsville, Va, where he volunteered for Smith Point Sea Rescue and was a member of the Northumberland Lions Club, the Great Wicomico Cruising Club, and the Rappahannock Pistol and Rifle Club. He loved his family and his boat and was happiest spending time on the rivers and the Chesapeake Bay with both. Richard will be interred at Quantico National Cemetery. He is survived by Karen, his son Richard, daughters Elizabeth and Laura, and grandchildren Tyler, Izzy, Jake, and Matthew. Marking off-duty to his family and country.
