Richard Blair White

Richard Blair White, Sr., 64 of Bedford died Friday, October 23, 2015 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He fought a long battle and showed great faith and courage until the end. He did not judge, he never met a stranger and he had a heart of gold. He would give his shirt off his back or the last dime he had to anyone he thought he could help.
He was a loving son, brother, and father and will be deeply missed. He loved all sports and life but had to relinquish so much when he became seriously ill.
Born in Roanoke October 3, 1951, he was the son of Betty Light White and the late Richard Woodson White.
In addition to his mother, Richard is also survived by his son, Richard Blair White, Jr.; daughters: Cherie A. Huffman, and Kristy L, White; brother, Roger N. White and his wife, Tara; grandchildren, Brandon Arthur, Jason White, Thomas White, Lauren Arthur, Alex Blair White; niece, Jodi Crismond and husband, Wystan; nephew, Jaret White; and good friend and the mother of his children, Phyllis Preston.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, October 27, 2015 in Greenwood Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. conducted by Wystan Crismond.
The family will receive friends at Tharp Funeral Home Monday, October 26, 2015 from 5:00-7:00 pm.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the 7th floor C..C.U. and the 10th floor Palliative Care Unit of Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for the loving care they gave Richard.
Tharp Funeral Home, Bedford is assisting the family.
