Richard Light died on November 5, 2010. He was traveling from his home in Bedford, Virginia to visit friends in Philadelphia. Mr. Light grew up in Philadelphia; he attended The Haverford School and St. Andrews College.
He was a past member of Merion Golf Club and a past member of the Pohoqualine Fish Association and was a past president of The Bunkers.
Mr. Light had a career in investment banking, spending his years at Alex Brown and Sons of Baltimore, MD and Smith Barney in Philadelphia. In his subsequent years he spent time in New Orleans, and Managua, Nicaragua financing power generation stations and Children\"™s Hospitals. Mr. Light was forced to leave New Orleans after hurricane Katrina and moved to Hilton Head.
Mr. Light was the son of Richard B. Light, Haverford School \"™37, Sr. Vice President of The Insurance Co. of North America and Mayor of Avalon, NJ.
He is survived by two daughters, Ashley L. Viola and Charlotte W.F. Light, a step mother Betty S. Light and numerous golf and fishing friends.
A memorial service will be conducted at 12:00 noon Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at St. David\"™s Episcopal Church in Wayne, PA. A reception will follow at Merion Golf Club.
