Carroll \"Harpo\" Harper, 76, of Lynchburg died Thursday July 21, 2011. He was the devoted husband of Wilma \"Billie\" Harris Harper.
Carroll was born May 11, 1935 in Lynchburg a son of the late John Andrew Harper and Virginia Wright Harper. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, was retired as an electrician from General Electric/Ericsson and was a member of Fairview Christian Church.
Carroll had a wonderful since of humor and was always ready to tell or hear a good joke.
In addition to his wife he is survived by a son Richard Gale Harper and wife Juanda of Forest, two sisters; Delores Guthrie of Volens, and Phyllis Burchette of Lynchburg, and one granddaughter Marquis Bailey Harper of Forest. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Dean Harper.
A Celebration of Carroll\"™s Life will be held at 10 am, Monday July 25, 2011 in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg with Pastor Mack Almond officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park with military honors provided by American Legion Post #16. Family will receive friends Sunday, July 24, 2011 from 6 \"" 8:00 pm at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg.
