Richard “Dick” Lockwenz

Richard \"Dick\" Perry Lockwenz, 78, of Lynchburg died May 15, 2012. He is survived by his beloved wife Mary Lou Lockwenz.

Richard was born, August 16, 1933 in Schenectady, NY, a son of the late Paul and Anna Lockwenz. Richard proudly served in the Navy and was employed at Hills Department store as the manager, where he retired after 20 plus years.

In addition to his wife, Richard is survived by a daughter: Polly Creed and her husband Gary of Denver, NC, a son: Paul David Lockwenz of Lynchburg: three grandchildren; Adam and Elliott Creed, Chloe Lowe: a sister; Janet L. Gullotta and her husband George of Schenectaty, New York.

Richard\"™s interests were vast, ranging from politics, to cooking, to working in his garden. He loved entertaining friends and family in his home where they could play music, sing, and socialize. Richard, being the warm and kind person that he was, never met a stranger in his life. He will be sadly missed by his \"two girls\", Lola and Necci.

The family would like to thank the Doctors and nurses at Lynchburg General Hospital in the MICU and CICU units. Also, they would like to extend their thanks to numerous friends and family for the love and support they showed during this time.

A visitation will be conducted on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg from 10 to 11:30 AM. A memorial service will follow.
