Richard Marshall Fitton, 84, of Forest, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 13, 2014. He was born on March 17, 1930, in Alexandria, Virginia, son of the late Harvey N. and Ada H. Fitton. Marshall served in the United States Navy during the Korean War, and worked as a mortgage banker in Alexandria before retiring to Central Virginia.
Marshall leaves behind a loving wife, Nana Suzanne Fitton and her sons, Jonathan and Brian McDonald; his son, Richard Marshall Fitton, Jr. and his wife, Sarah; his daughter, Leslie J. Fitton; a grandson, Richard Michael Fitton; two brothers, Robert Fitton and his wife, Lindalee, and H. Nelson Fitton and his wife, Judy; and his sister, Joan Stodgel.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the caring nurses with Centra Hospice during Marshall’s illness.
The family will receive friends and family at the Pate Chapel on Thursday, December 18, 2014, from 6 until 7 p.m. A funeral service will immediately follow with the Rev. Rick Via officiating. There will be a private graveside service the following day in Vinton.
