Richard R. Cooke, Jr., 69, of Lynchburg, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family and friends.
Born in Syracuse, N.Y., he graduated from Jamesville-Dewitt High School in 1969. He worked for the railroad before moving to Virginia with his wife, Kathy, in 1978. He owned and operated Cooke’s Glass Service until he retired in 2020.
Buzzy had a love for camping, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren. He had a huge heart and was as kind, thoughtful, and generous as a man could be, which made him so many friends everywhere he went.
Buzz is predeceased by his wife, Kathy, and his parents Dick and Dona Cooke.
He is survived by his son, Richard R. Cooke, III; three grandchildren; his brother David Cooke and sister-in-law, Marsha; so many wonderful friends; and his loving and caring girlfriend, Tracy Sugden.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg, from 2 to 4 p.m. A celebration of Buzzy’s life will follow at 4 p.m.
