Richard Robbins, 89, of Lynchburg, died Tuesday, December 21, 2010. He was the husband of Charlene Robbins for 21 years.
Mr. Robbins was born Saturday, March 12, 1921 in Altavista, a son of the late Rennie and Pauline Lane Robbins. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific during World War II, earning the rank of Captain. He was retired from Lane Company where he was a salesperson for 30 years. He was a member of Lane Memorial Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter, Rennie Robbins and husband, Pete Davis, Kansas City, MO, granddaughter, Robin Addleman and husband, Tom, and great grandchildren, John and Dean Addleman, all of Harrisonville, MO; daughter, Sally Buck and husband, Ron, and grandchildren, Daniel and David Buck, all of Grand Prairie, TX; daughter, Peg Standish and husband, Mike, and grandchildren, Dylan, Alexia and Dalton Standish, all of Colleyville, TX; stepdaughter, Marcia Murray, Giles County, VA, step-granddaughter, Cassie Seiple, New Orleans, LA, and step-grandson, Jarrett Seiple, Giles County, VA; and stepson, Joseph Murray, Staunton, VA, step-granddaughters, Laurel Murray-Graham, New Castle, UK, and Holly Murray, Washington, DC; and nephew, John Robbins, of Altavista, VA.
A memorial service and celebration of Richard's life will be held at a later date.
