Richard Wade Grubbs, Sr.
Richard Wade Grubbs Sr., 70, of Lynchburg, died Thursday, February 3, 2011. He was the husband of Mary Lee Arthur Grubbs for 50 years.
Mr. Grubbs was born Tuesday, July 16, 1940, in Campbell County, a son of the late Ernest Lyle Grubbs and Ollie Naomi Perdue Grubbs. He was retired from Bennie's Rental where he worked in the maintenance department for many years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, \"R.W." Grubbs, Jr., Donald R. Grubbs and Douglas Grubbs and wife, Keisha, all of Lynchburg; a sister, Barbara Jean Tolbert and husband, Bernard, of Buckingham, five grandchildren, Amanda Wright, D.W. Grubbs, Jr., Heather Grubbs, Tommy Grubbs and Brandon Grubbs; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Norma Jean Grubbs, two brothers, Roger and Lyle Grubbs, and one sister, Shirley Moore.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Sunday, February 6, 2011, at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg.
