That though the radiance which was once so bright
Be now forever taken from my sight.
Though nothing can bring back the hour of splendor in the grass, glory in the flower.
We will grieve not, rather find strength in what remains behind.
~William Wordsworth
Robert Alexander delledera Schumacher left this world on 10 June 2017. He was known by many names, not limited to, but including, Raab, Rabbit, and Rob.
Born in Nashville, Tennessee on 26 January 1987, to Robert Alan Schumacher and dianne delledera, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Edward and Effie Schumacher, and by his maternal grandparents, Joseph and Chic Delledera. Robert leaves to mourn, his parents; his brothers, Dylan and Isaac; his sisters, Autumn and Ivy; and his service dog, Penny.
Over the course of Robert’s life, he attended six schools: Holy Rosary Academy, Holy Cross High School, John Paul II, McGavok High School, and E.C. Glass. Robert was loved by the teachers of the classes that he wanted to participate in and loathed by the others. Robert received a 1437 on his SATs, but never found the desire to apply himself.
He participated in many theatrical and ballet performances, and even took an art class in Paris. He completed his Eagle Scout project just hours prior to his 18th birthday. When Robert was passionate about something, he made it happen, no matter what obstacles were presented.
During the time the family spent overseas, Robert adventured and travelled. He fancied himself quite the linguist, and loved to speak French, as well as American Sign Language (ASL). (He was more fluent in the latter.) His passion for ASL lead him to become quite involved in the deaf community in D.C. He felt very connected to deaf and hard of hearing people, and related to them in a way that was fundamentally different from hearing people. Something that became a huge part of his life around this time was his rave lifestyle. He loved raves; he felt at home in the flashing lights and deafening music. He earned the nickname “Hollywood” because of his sunglasses and scarf that became his uniform.
Robert, like his father, loved his jeeps. He spent an enormous amount of time and money on his jeep, fixing it, decorating it, and even living in it…His dog, Penelope, lived with Robert in his jeep. Penny was Robert’s truest and most constant friend.
Robert watches over us now with his crystal blue eyes and soft heart. May he finally catch up on his sleep and find true peace.
