Robert Anderson Staton of Lynchburg, Virginia died February 1, 2019. He was the husband of Fay Moyer Staton for 57 years.
Mr. Staton was born March 7, 1937 in Lynchburg, son of Henry Anderson Staton and Floy Tomlinson Staton and stepmother Lena Hudson Staton.
He graduated from Brookville High School, and with determination and hard work he became a licensed architect, opening his own firm in 1985. He proudly served our country within the U.S. Army. He was a skilled magician, with magic as his hobby since the age of 12, donating time doing magic shows for nursing homes and churches.
In addition to his wife, he survived by a son, Robert Anderson Staton, Jr. and his wife Pamela; a granddaughter Elizabeth Fay Staton; two brothers Jack Staton and Ronnie Staton and wife Sheila; one sister, Shirley Miller; brother-in-law Steve Moyer and wife Scottie; four nieces, Kelly Moyer Hamlett and husband Jesse; Nikki Staton and daughter Alyssa; Mandy Gear and husband Paul and son Zack, Barbie Dulaney and husband Chris and their children, Hunter and Sophia; and one nephew, Steven Faulkner Moyer.
A visitation will be held at Tharp Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. A committed service will be held at Spring Hill Cemetery on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Cancer Society.
