Robert “Bob” Arthur Johnson

Robert Arthur Johnson, 78, of Lynchburg, died Monday, July, 2, 2012, following a brief illness. Born on May 6, 1934, in Stambough, Upper Peninsula, Michigan, he was a son of the late Arline Quever and Oliver B. Johnson.

 

Robert (Bob) moved with his family to Milwaukee, Wisconsin at age 5, was educated in Milwaukee Public Schools, Iowa State University and New York University. He worked in educational television in Milwaukee and produced medical films for Warner-Chilcott Pharmaceutical Company, later becoming a Sales Representative from Boehringer-Ingelheim Pharmaceutical Company, having served twenty-eight years, receiving numerous achievement awards throughout his career.

 

Bob was a member of Peakland United Methodist Church, where he actively worshipped and served. He was involved in numerous past community projects and Boards, including Peakland Swim and Tennis Club, Lynchburg Fine Arts Center and the YMCA. He was a regular Blood Donor and for the past four years, volunteered with the Virginia Baptist Hospital Auxiliary.

 

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Franklin Johnson, and would have celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary on August 8th; sons Robert Patrick Johnson (Heather) or Hendersonville, TN, Craig Steven Johnson of Frederick, MD, Timothy Scott Johnson (Cindy) and Todd Robert Johnson, all of Lynchburg. He is also survived by grandchildren Michael and Duncan of Hendersonville; Christopher and Steven of Frederick; Caitlyn, Madison, and Sarah, all of Lynchburg; Samantha, Robbie, and Maggie, all of Myrtle Beach, SC; and brothers Michael Johnson (Barbara) of El Cajon, CA, and Steven Johnson of Portland, OR.

 

A Celebration of Life will be held at Peakland United Methodist Church on Friday, July 20th, 2012, at 11 AM with the Reverend Dr. Edwin Clever and Reverend Rachel May officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the Chamberlain Fellowship Hall. A private interment will take place at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
