Robert Bruce Hawes

Robert \"Bruce\" Hawes, 65, passed away on May 22, 2012 in his family home in Rustburg, VA following a brief illness.

Bruce was born November 22, 1946 in Pulaski, VA. To W.B. (Bill) Hawes and Colene H. Hawes. He spent most of his childhood at Lake Jackson in Manassas, VA., and split his adult years between Virginia and California. Bruce attended Osborn High School and was honorably discharged from the USAF in 1967. He worked as an electronics technician, as a systems sales person, and ultimately was branch manager for Simplex in the Fresno, CA. branch. He loved the outdoors, riding his horses, and was an avid Redskins fan.

Bruce is survived by his wife, Holly Hawes, his daughter Kelsey, 16, as well as his father, Bill Hawes and sisters, Janie Caputo and Nancy Mitchell. He also is survived by children from a previous marriage: Diane Gout, Kathleen Karas, Bruce Hawes II, and Bill Hawes II. Bruce has ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He also has two nephews and one niece, as well as two great-nephews and three great-nieces.

His beloved mother, Colene H. Hawes of Lynchburg, and grandmother, Stella B. Murphy of Pulaski, preceded him in death. Bruce will be laid to rest with his mother in a private graveside entombment in Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin, Va.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations, which can be made to the college education of his daughter, Kelsey at BB & T Bank, Village Highway, Rustburg, VA. 24588, Attn; Kelsey Hawes College Education Found; or towards curing Aplastic Anemia or Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis.
