Robert Daryl Holt

Robert Daryl Holt, 62, of Forest, lost his battle with pancreatic cancer on Saturday, December 21, 2019. He was the husband of Beth Holt for 35 years.
He was born on October 22, 1957 to Shirley and Bobby Holt of Phenix. Daryl was preceded in death by his father Bobby Holt; his brother-in-law Daryl Bennett; and his sister-in-law Mitzi Chandler. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Drew Holt of Forest; his daughter Morgan H. Paterson (Danny) of Charleston, S.C.; his mother Shirley Holt of Phenix; his sister Tamara Bennett of Scuffletown; his brother Randall Holt (Robin) of Forest; his aunt Christine Elder of Phenix; his mother-in-law Patsy Jones of Pamplin; his brother-in-law Danny Jones of Pamplin; and his nieces Chelsea J. Mann of Pamplin and Brittany Holt of Forest.
Daryl graduated from Randolph Henry High School in Charlotte County in 1976, received his B.A. in 1980 and M.Ed. in 1994 from Lynchburg College in Sociology and Agency Counseling. He was employed by the Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice for 39 years, retiring as Supervisor in 2018 having served in Amherst, Nelson, Campbell, and Bedford Counties.
Daryl’s love for golf was evident as he played weekly with the wolfpack at Hat Creek Golf Course in Brookneal. A special thanks to the wolfpack for your constant support.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Alan B. Pearson Cancer Center, Centra Hospice, and Dr. MacNeill.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, December 23, 2019 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg with the Reverend Larry Brodie officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m.
Interment will take place at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, December 24, 2019 in Evergreen Cemetery in Charlotte Court House, Va.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making memorial contributions to the Alan B. Pearson Cancer Center.
