Robert Denny Peak, Sr., 75, of Lynchburg died Monday September 10, 2012. He was the devoted husband of Sylvia Steppe Peak for over 55 years.
Robert was born November 19, 1936 in Halifax County a son of the late Lawrence Peak and Bernice Puckett Peak. Robert enjoyed hunting and playing golf, but most of all he worked hard all his life in the two family businesses at Peak\"™s Slaughter House and Peak\"™s Par 3 Golf Course along Campbell Highway.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his children: Robert Denny Peak, Jr., of Lynchburg, Gary Holden Peak of Gladys, and Jennifer Thompson of Lynchburg, six grandchildren: Torey Devaney, Adam Peak, Jeremy Peak, Jessica Peak, Heather Thompson, and Noah Thompson, four great-grandchildren: Isabelle, Emily, Morgan, and Madison, and one brother Herbert Peak of Rustburg.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son Gregory L. Peak.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. tonight Wednesday Sept. 12, 2012 at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg. A Funeral Service for Robert will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday Sept. 13, 2012 at New Chapel Baptist Church in Rustburg with the Rev. Tim Dooley officiating. Interment will follow in the churchyard cemetery.
