Robert Earl Walton, Sr.

Robert Earl Walton, Sr., 87, of Lynchburg, VA, left his earthly home for his heavenly one August 18, 2018. He was the loving husband of Ollie P. Walton for 57 years.
Born October 14, 1930 in Amherst, Robert was a son of the late Robert Harris Walton, the late Evelyn May Spence Walton, and the late stepmother, Lucille Tibbs Walton.
He will be forever remembered by his sons, Wendell E. Walton (and wife, Dreamer) of Forest, Robert Earl Walton, Jr., and Michael Pearce Walton (and wife, Wendy) of PA; six grandchildren: Marina Walton, VA, Nikki Guerin, NC, Tara Barker (and husband, Marc), Carrie Walton, Michael Walton (and wife, Liz), Jon Walton (and wife, Amanda) of PA; and eight great-grandchildren: Miranda Barker, Dalton Barker, Scarlett Rose Walton, M.J. Walton, Marissa Walton, Allanah Nelligan, Bryce Nelligan, Landon Walton; as well as numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
Bobby was a member and deacon of Sandusky Baptist Church and had retired from Suburban Propane as a Propane Technician. He was a man of few words, but always wanted to know how the weather was outside. He was giving, fun loving, and hard working – a devoted husband and father who loved being around his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed people watching, singing or whistling, watching baseball, and going hunting/fishing.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 21, at Tharp Funeral Home (220 Breezewood Dr. Lynchburg, VA). A service will be conducted on Wednesday, August 22 at 11 a.m. at Fort Hill Memorial Park Chapel with Pastor Ed Vogt officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
