Robert Franklin Clark, Sr., 86, of Bedford passed away on June 30, 2020 at his residence. He was born in Roanoke, Va to the late James Alfred Clark and Faye Sutherland Clark. In addition to his parents He was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia Albert Clark.
Bob loved his family. He was a machinist for Norfolk Southern Railroad and a member of Bedford Christian Church. Bob loved life, people as well as talking and eating. He coached the “Scott’s Automotive” baseball team in Bedford for 32 years, and will be missed by all who knew him in the Bedford community.
Robert is survived by his children, Elizabeth “Beth” Clark, Brenda Clark and Robbie Clark; grandchildren, Melissa Stallard, Amanda Stallard, Troy Stallard, Ian Spradlin and Lucas Spradlin; great-grandchildren, Pepper Lambert, Liam Stallard, Amelia Lambert, Maisy Cesafsky and Sawyer Lambert; and brother, Jimmy Clark.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 3, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at Tharp Funeral Chapel, Bedford with the Rev. Jim Compton officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 2, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home, Bedford.
