Robert Frederick Sieck

July 14, 1928 — January 6, 2022

Robert Fredrick (Bob) Sieck, 93, of Rustburg, died Thursday, January 6, 2022 at his residence. Born July 14,1928 in Baltimore, Maryland he was the son of the late William J. Sieck and Frieda Shaper Sieck.  Bob was a hard worker all his life as a teen he worked as a stable hand, a theater usher, and plumber’s assistant. He and a friend sold Christmas Trees for many years and he owned his own landscaping business in Maryland. He moved to Rustburg, Virginia in 1967 where he raised cattle on his farm for many years. While running his farm he also worked at Babcock & Wilcox in Lynchburg, Virginia and Schrader Bridgeport in Altavista, Virginia. He retired from Schrader Bridge as a machinist. Bob was a longtime member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and wife Anita, his second wife Anna Lee Tabor Bouchelle Sieck and his son David Sieck.

He is survived by his son Stanley Sieck of Roanoke, Virginia and sisters Gertrude Sieck of Howard County, Maryland, Louise Johnson and husband Norman of Howard County, Maryland and Margret Valenti of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, a host of nieces and nephews, daughter-in-law Sheri Sieck (David) and devoted friend and companion Janice McAdams Baier.

Bob was the living example of a true country gentleman. The best words to describe him are, generous, sincere, loyal.  He was always calm, even if something was bothering him, even a little bit, he never really showed it. He was always patient and loving and he was also a kind and gentle soul. People would call him a “Gentle Giant”. He never said a harsh or unkind word to or about anyone. He had a great laugh and a great smile. He just had a way of making you feel good or feel better if something was wrong. He loved working outdoors and planting and growing things, he was always a farmer at heart.

He loved his family. He was always there for anyone who needed something. Never asked or expected for anything in return. And never wanted to be the center of attention.  Bob was just always there ready to lend a hand for anyone – family, friends. It didn’t matter who it was.

A funeral service to celebrate Bob’s life is planned for Friday, January 14th, 2022, at 1PM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 110 Melinda Drive, Lynchburg, Virginia. Bishop Chris Malone will be conducting the service. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Cemetery.
