Robert “Bob” Gould, 76, of Forest, Va., stepped into the presence of his Lord and Savior Friday morning, August 4, 2017. He was the husband of Gayle Hogan Gould for twenty years.
Bob was born June 15,1941 in Jamestown, N.Y., a son of the late Raymond Wolfe Gould and the late Raymonde Elise Uson Gould.
He loved teaching middle school science at Jefferson Junior High School in Jamestown, N.Y. and Liberty Christian Academy, was a member of the body of Christ at Thomas Road Baptist Church where he took great pleasure in singing in the choir and participating in the Faith Bible Class.
In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by his children, Kathy Killmon and her husband Dean of Forest, Va., Crista Murphy and husband Jay of Forest, Va. and Michael Gould and wife Karin of Austin, Texas.; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Grace and John Riley Killmon of Forest, Va., Amanda, Kelly, Rachel and Jake Murphy of Forest, Va., Madison, Ellie, Joshua and Rebekah Gould of Austin, Texas; great-grandchildren, Karis and Isaac Murphy of Forest, Va.; a brother, Ronald Gould and wife, Mary of Jamestown, N.Y.
After he accepted Christ as His Savior on April 25, 1954, Bob enjoyed serving in the churches he attended in N.Y. and Va., as well as in the community by leading music at various community crusades and rallies, serving as Deacon and Trustee at Hillcrest Baptist Church, beginning a bus ministry and children’s church, and completing building projects for those in need. He modeled a life of service that impacted many spiritually, educationally, and physically. His family finds comfort in these words from Romans 8 highlighted in his Bible, “In all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at Thomas Road Baptist Church, Pate Chapel with the Reverend Jonathan Falwell officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
