Robert Henry Canody, 87, of Lynchburg, VA, died Wednesday, February 08, 2012. He was the husband of Evelyn Woodley Canody for 63 years.
Born Wednesday, October 01, 1924 in Bedford County, Bob was the son of the late Henry Thomas Canody and the late India Cyphers Canody.
In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by a daughter, Karen Canody, of Richmond, VA, a granddaughter, Casey Canody, of Lynchburg, a sister, Minnie McCraw, of Lynchburg, a niece, Martha M. Wingfield, nephews: Henry C. McCraw, of Lynchburg; Douglas B. McCraw, of California; and Samuel P. McCraw, of Charlottesville, VA, and a very special family friend, Jerry Maner, of Forest.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a son, Wayne Canody.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at Virginia Memorial Park with the Rev. Dr. Tom Bryant officiating.
Bob will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Bob graduated from the College of William and Mary. He strongly believed in education, encouraging his family to strive to achieve their goals. His job with the Virginia Department of Transportation allowed him the pleasure of enjoying the outdoors. Bob loved a good conversation, especially concerning current events and politics, and he was never afraid of a good argument. Bob was proud of his service to our country in the Pacific as a Navy Seal during WWII. Bob\"™s favorite quote was \"I\"™ll think about it\". He will be affectionately remembered as a curmudgeon with a marshmallow center.
