Robert J Meadows

Robert “Bob” Joseph Meadows, 87, of Moneta, VA passed away on May 27, 2020. Robert was born November 14, 1932 in Talcott, WV to Omer Lake Meadows and Ella Ball Meadows. Robert retired from Medeco in Roanoke, VA as a tool and die maker. Bob was also a talented fishing lure maker and many of his “Bob’s Baits” have been used successfully around Smith Mountain Lake and local tributaries. Among his other many talents,  which include being able to fix anything, fishing and golfing, he was known for much more. Not only was he known for his ability to be a friend to anyone, Bob was the kindest, gentlest, and most mild mannered man that you could ever meet. Bob could not be remembered as ever having said an ill word about anyone with whom he crossed paths. He leaves behind the love of his life, Carol Broyles Meadows whom he was married for 68 years. They exemplified what a marriage should be, leaving a template for all to follow. Bob and Carol were members of Beaverdam Baptist Church In Stewartsville, VA. Bob also leaves behind his beloved daughter Pamela Shifflett and her husband Gary of Moneta, VA. Three grandchildren and spouses, Geoffrey Shifflett and wife Melanie of Boiling Springs, PA which include 4 great-grandchildren Zachary, Connor, Carter, and Grace. Holly Shifflett Hall and husband Brett of Moneta, VA which include 2 great-grandchildren Addison and Ella. Courtney Shifflett Nedimeyer and husband Andrew of Mechanicsburg, PA which include 3 great-grandchildren Levi, Noah, and Isaac. Following a graveside service Bob will be laid to rest at 1 p.m. on Monday June 1, 2020 in the Rollynsburg Talcott Cemetery in Talcott, WV observed by family and friends. Immediately following the service, friends and family will gather at a nearby farm. Directions will be provided. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the American Cancer Society.
