Robert Kenneth Nein, 92, of Lynchburg, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 20, 2017. He was the loving husband of Myrna Pichon Nein. Robert was born August 31, 1924, a son of the late Robert L. Nein and the late Emma Fischer Nein in Reading, Penn.
In addition to his wife, Robert is survived by his son, David Nein (Nancy); daughter, Robin Manfredi (Ronnie); grandchildren, Cathy Williams, Chris Nein, Nicky Daneker, and Lisa Daneker; great-grandchildren, Andrew Williams, Madison Williams, and Bobby Williams; a brother, W.F. Nein. Also surviving are his step-daughter, Lorie Ventura (Allen); step-grandchildren, Shelton Gray (Holly), Molly Gray, and Christian Gray; one step-great-granddaughter, Emma.
In addition to his parents, Robert was predeceased by sisters, Margaret Lehman, Esther Hessler, and Betty Gromis.
Robert proudly served our country in the U.S. Marines during World War II from 1942 until 1946. In 1949 he graduated from Pennsylvania State University. Robert went on to establish a successful career as the president of Scott Insurance while happily raising his two children with his first wife, Ginny. Robert’s desire to care for others helped him achieve the status of campaign chairman, board member, and president of United Way. The Virginia Association of Insurance Agents was yet another of his successes, of which he was president. Robert spent his retirement in Lynchburg.
A Celebration of Robert’s Life will be held in the Chapel of Westminster Canterbury at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 24, 2017 with Pastor Dennis Roberts officiating.
