Robert L. Chevalier, 89, of Bedford, VA passed at home on July 14, 2018.
Born November 16, 1928 in Aurora, Ill., Robert worked as an aircraft mechanic in California for several years. He then became a pilot, which he loved. Robert worked as a corporate pilot for NL Industries and then for Georgia Pacific Corporation until his retirement. He grew up in Connecticut then lived in New Hampshire for nine years before move to Virginia in 2000.
He was predeceased by his parents, Samuel and Patricia Chevalier, and his first wife, Gloria.
Robert is survived by his loving wife, Mary-Lew Chevalier; his children, Holly A. Chevalier of Manhattan, N.Y., Debra Tomaselli and husband Frank of Orange, CT, Robert K. Chevalier of VA, Lisa L. Chevalier of Prospect, CT, Todd Chevalier of Naugatuck, CT, and Michael Chevalier of Naugatuck, CT. Also surviving are his step-children, Douglas DeGroff of Milford, CT, John DeGroff of Shelton, CT and James DeGroff of Crewe, VA; grandchildren, Lauren Tomaselli, Joseph Tomaselli, Christopher Chevalier, Shawn Chevalier, and Nicholas Donnangolo; step-grandchildren, Danielle Hodges and Karl DeGroff.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday July 18, 2018 at Tharp Funeral Home, Bedford.
