Robert Foster, 79, of Montvale, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday November 29, 2017. He was the loving husband of Sue Williamson Foster.
Robert was born August 16, 1938 in Thaxton, a son of Roy Judson Foster and Pearl Susan Foster. Robert worked as an electric lineman for Davis H. Elliott for over 35 years. He was an Army Veteran, a member and a deacon of Walnut Grove Church, and an avid gardener, who loved his many grandchildren and faithful dogs.
In addition to his wife, Robert is survived by his sons, Robert Lee Foster Jr. (Dawn), and Gary William Foster (Crystal) as well as his daughter, Shelley Foster Lyons (Ken), 5 grandchildren and two great grandchildren, siblings including Barbara Taylor, Thelbert Foster (Jean), Patricia Milton (Howard), and Nancy Alphin (Richard).
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Roy M. Foster and sister Lucille Foster Renick.
The family will receive friends from noon until 1:30 pm on 12/4/17 at Tharp Funeral Home, Bedford. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm at Walnut Grove Union Church.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to either the Central and Western Virginia Alzheimer’s Association or Good Samaritan Hospice.
