Robert Lee Phipps, 81, of Evington went to be with his Lord, Wednesday, October 19, 2016. He was the devoted husband of Helen Johnson Phipps.
Robert was born on September 21, 1935 in Twin Rocks, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Robert Phipps and Pearl Selders Phipps. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army and had worked in the construction industry for many years and was a member of Forest Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughters: Robin Waldrep and husband Allen of Lynchburg, Pamela Matthes and husband Phil of Evington, and Cynthia Daugherty and husband Clyde of Mercer, PA, a son, Peter Phipps and wife Sarah of Levittown, PA, two sisters: Marjorie Konnert of Nanny Glo, PA and Caroline Bailey of Bates, SC, one brother Irvine Phipps of Pittsburgh, PA, nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Dorothy Keener, one brother Kenneth Phipps and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, October 21, 2016 at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg.
A Celebration of Robert’s Life will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, October 22, 2016 at Forest Baptist Church.
A Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 24, 2016 at Glenwood Cemetery in Clark, PA.
