Robert Lloyd Carner, 86, of Lynchburg died Sunday, April 11, 2010 at his residence. He was born January 2, 1924 in Roanoke, a son of the late Samuel Thomas Carner and Jessie Fuqua Huddleston.
Robert served in the United States Navy during WWII. He was a life member of the Masons Chamblisburg Lodge, VFW Post 2157 and the Sons of Confederate Veterans.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Robert Samuel Carner, and numerous brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife Barbara Ruth Ham Carner; one daughter, Debbie Dudney of Lynchburg; three granddaughters, Lauren Dalton and husband Greg, Erin Dudney, both of Lynchburg, and April Carner of Newport News; one grandson, Tron Carner of Newport News; one sister, Ann Jacobs and husband Richard of Arizona; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted 2:00 PM, Thursday, April 15, 2010 at Mt. View Cemetery (Vinton) with Dr. Dwight Rice and Chaplin Bryan Harness officiating.
