Robert Milton Workman, Sr., 78, of Forest, died peacefully in his sleep Wednesday January 18th 2012. He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Phyllis Bowers Workman.

Bob was born March 2nd 1933 in Raleigh County, West Virginia, a son of the late Benjamin Harrison Workman and the late Mary Opal Workman.

Bob graduated from West Virginia University in 1960 and served our Country in the US Army.

Bob was known for both his far-reaching generosity and the great love he had for his family and friends, who will all greatly miss him.

Bob founded Workman Oil Company on April 1st 1974. Under his leadership he built the company into a strong regional convenience store chain and oil distributorship which he sold to his son and son- in- law in 2002.

In addition to his wife Phyllis, he is survived by three children: Nancy W. Hall and husband Warner, Lucy D. Workman and Robert Workman Jr. and wife Carla; seven grandchildren: Katie, Rachel, and Abby Hall, Madison and Cole Workman and Lindsey   and Emily Beasley.

A visitation will be held Friday January 20th from 4:00-6:00 PM at Tharp Funeral Home on 220 Breezewood Drive. A private interment will take place prior to the memorial service which will be held on Saturday January 21st 2012 at 11:00 AM at Rivermont Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 2424 Rivermont Avenue with Pastors Ron Cox, Clay Smith and David Etheridge officiating. There will be a reception at Boonsboro Country Club following the service.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Family Life Fund c/o Rivermont Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 2424 Rivermont Avenue, Lynchburg, Va. 24503.
