Robert Allen Monroe

Robert Allen Monroe, 77 of Lynchburg, passed away Monday, June 9, 2025.

He was the loving husband of Catherine Robertson Monroe for 34 wonderful, but short years.

Bob was born in Fishersville, Virginia on December 7, 1947, to the late Leroy Chester Monroe and Maxine Desper Monroe.

He retired from Areva in Lynchburg following a long career in various roles. He was primarily of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters Tricia Monroe Campensa, (Ohio) and her family and Robyn Monroe Brandes (New Hampshire) and her family. Bob is also survived by his brother, Gary Monroe (Joanne) his sister Diane Monroe Layman (Doug) of the Waynesboro and Fishersville respectively. Many cousins, in-laws and friends with whom he stayed close. We are so grateful for their love.

A memorial service for Robert will be held on July 12, 2025, at 10:00am at The Old City Cemetery in Lynchburg, Va., with Pastor Chris Barber officiating. Inurnment will follow immediately after the service at the Old City Cemetery Scatter Garden.
