Robert Neal Chambers, 62, of Moneta, died October 27, 2015. Neal was the husband of Judith Shelburne Chambers, his Juju and the love of his life.
Neal was born July 21, 1953, in Lynchburg, Virginia, the only son of Billie Adams Chambers and the recently deceased Robert Lee Chambers, Jr.
Neal loved the life he shared with Judith, much of it spent at their Smith Mountain Lake home. He was a self-made man who embraced the simple pleasures of life.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his sisters, Nelie C. Cassidy of Forest, Sue C. Liptrot of Vancouver, British Columbia, Judy C. Newman and Robin C. Moses, both of Bedford, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition, he is survived by many beloved friends, too numerous to mention, but each treasured in his heart.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until 12 noon on Saturday, October 31 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. A brief commemoration of Neal’s life will follow in the Chapel at Tharp Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Dodson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Franklin County second grade swim program, Franklin County YMCA Aquatics Program, 235 Technology Drive, Rocky Mount, Virginia 24151 or to the Franklin County Humane Society, 18401 Virgil H. Goode Hwy., Rocky Mount, Virginia 24151.
