Robert Nicholas Minkler, Jr., 92, of Lynchburg passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at Guggenhimer Health and Rehabilitation Center. Mr. Minkler was born in Schenectady, New York on April 6, 1918 a son of the late Robert N. Minkler, Sr. and the late Martha Krieger Minkler.
He was a retiree of General Electric, with over forty years of service in Schenectady, New York and Lynchburg. Mr. Minkler served his country during WWII in the U. S. Army and the Navy. He was a longtime member of Quaker Memorial Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-seven years, Cora Jess Minkler; his son, Nick Minkler and wife, Janice of Lynchburg; his daughter, Cathy Lequin and husband, Jerry of Midlothian; his grandchildren, Jay Lequin and wife, Amy, Wendy Deitrick and husband, Joe, Amy Reams and husband, Matt, Michael Minkler and wife, Pamela and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 1, 2011 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg with the Rev. Luke Farwell officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Quaker Memorial Presbyterian Church Endowment Fund, 5810 Fort Avenue, Lynchburg, VA 24502.
