Robert Raymond Huntington, 96, of Lynchburg, went on that final fishing trip on May 31, 2019 after a long illness.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mary Huntington and Brothers Bill and Joe.
Those missing him now include the greatest catch of his life and wife of 73 years, Helen Bushnell Huntington, children Kathy Early (David), Jane Snyder, Ann Bauer (Joe), Robert L. Huntington (Beth), Ginny Huntington, Sue Huntington (Kevin Britt), 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Bob was born on September 13, 1922 in East Randolph, NY, proudly served in the Army during WWII and graduated with an Arts degree from Syracuse University. He enjoyed a 34 year career as an Industrial Designer with General Electric who relocated Bob and his family to Lynchburg from Syracuse, New York in 1959. He was an active member of Holy Cross Catholic Church for more than 50 years. Bob was an especially gifted fisherman, amassed scores of medals from foot races up to his 91st year, enjoyed watching birds, and played many musical instruments, including performing with Lily Pons in the Andre Kostelanetz band during the war; and was famously lucky at cards. All of these loves live on in his descendants.
The Family would like to thank Senior Independence Hospice, especially Tabitha and Wendy, for their support on our journey.
A Celebration of Life Mass will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Church on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with reception immediately following at the church.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the charity of your choice.
