Robert Troy Hight, 52, of Pawleys Island, SC and formerly of Lynchburg, passed away Sunday, December 14, 2014.
He graduated from Brookville High School in 1981. Troy earned his BS Degree in mechanical engineering from UNC Charlotte. He began his career at International Paper in Georgetown, South Carolina where he worked for over five years. He then became the Manager of Operations
for the Georgetown County School District. For many years he was also a professional ski instructor and enjoyed his time at the Homestead Resort in Hot Springs, VA. He was a licensed Sea Captain and enjoyed his time on the Ocean. Troy was also an avid hunter and fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Jackie Powell Hight. Surviving are his wife of 25 years, Marianne (Clark) Rhodes Hight, son Robert (Tucker) Hight, daughter, Alexandra Clark Hight, father, Robert Hight, sister, Regina Hight Mason.
A memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Lynchburg VA, 11:00 am Friday, December 19, 2014 with the Reverend Ragland Coxe officiating. A reception will follow.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm Thursday, December 18, 2014 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Prince George Winyah Episcopal Church, (music or youth ministry), 301 Screven Street, Georgetown, South Carolina 29442.
On Sunday, December 21, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. a Memorial Service will be held in Georgetown, South Carolina at the Prince George Winyah Episcopal Church with reception to follow.
