Robert Wayne Shepherd

Robert Wayne Shepherd, 78, of Moneta, passed away on Monday, September 12, 2016. He was the loving husband of Sue Yancey Shepherd.
Born June 1, 1938 in Hemp Hill, West Virginia, he was a son of the late Wiley Franklin Shepherd and Noreen Johnson Shepherd. He is also preceded in death by a brother: Glenn Shepherd.
Wayne was an avid Va. Tech Hokie fan; he was a Boy Scout Leader and also on the Eagle Review Board. When his sons were growing up he helped coach Little League. Wayne was a member of Halesford Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, Wayne is survived by his two sons: Robert Wayne Shepherd, II. and wife, Vicki; Scott Eric Shepherd and wife, Tammy; two grandchildren: Hunter and Allie Shepherd; sisters: Margaret Elizabeth Barch and husband, Ted, Patricia Ann Dayfield, Wylene Boggs and husband, Mike; brother: Greg Shepherd and wife, Billie; sister-in-law: Dreama Shepherd; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, September 15, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. at Halesford Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the church from 4:00-6:00 p.m.
The family request memorial contributions be made to Boy Scout Troop # 130 c/o Charter Representative 11318 Booker T. Washington Hwy. Hardy, VA 24101, or Moneta Community Park c/o Bedford County Parks & Recreation ATTN: Wyatt Woody 1257 County Farm Road, Bedford, VA 24523.
