Robin Lynn Levandoski, age 71, of Lynchburg, passed away on December 16, 2024, after a long struggle with the complications of Alzheimer’s disease. She was the daughter of W. Milton Smith and E. Louise Smith, and the wife of Frank Levandoski. She was born on March 26, 1953, in Boise, Idaho. She was raised in Billings, Montana, and graduated from Montana State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in microbiology, followed by a Master of Education degree from the University of Virginia.
Robin relocated to Lynchburg in 1986 to take the position of Director of the CVCC/Centra Health Medical Laboratory Technology Program; a position she held for over 30 years. She was very dedicated to her students and derived great satisfaction in their successes; as one former student said “she was tough but we really learned.” She enthusiastically gave her time and talents to support many worthwhile causes - Miriam‘s House, Elizabeth’s Early Learning Center, Kids Haven, the Philanthropic Educational Organization (PEO), and the St. John’s Greenhouse at Lynchburg Grows. Robin was a woman of very strong faith. She supported her church, St. John’s Episcopal, as a reader, member of the linen guild, and as a former chairperson of the Outreach Committee.
Robin was an extraordinarily loving, generous and compassionate person who only saw the best qualities in everyone she met. She treated everyone with dignity and respect. Her bright smile and infectious laugh were true delights to everyone. Testimony to Robin‘s beautiful spirit are the many loyal friends who stood beside her through her battle with this terrible illness. She inspired such loyalty and devotion. While her friends were many, too many to name, special mention must be given to the members of her Wednesday morning coffee group, Stacy Cravens, Sophia Harvey, Linda Edlin, and Maureen Lockridge, and to her very special lifelong friend, Nancy Huso, of Columbia Falls, MT.
She is survived by her husband, Frank Levandoski; sisters Kathi Smith of Santa Barbara, CA, and Elizabeth Petty (Bill) of Colorado Springs, CO, and her brother, Tim Smith of Shepherd, MT.; stepchildren, Mark Levandoski of Southern Shores, NC, Kimberly Levandoski of Brooklyn, NY, Carl Levandoski of Goode, VA, and Karen Grosset (Doug) of Yarmouth, ME; step grandchildren, Carter Grosset and Virginia (Gigi) Grosset of Yarmouth, ME.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, January 17, 2025, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 205 Elmwood Ave., Lynchburg. Interment will be at St. John’s Columbarium. A reception will follow at the church.
