Rodney Kent Pelletier, 76, of Forest, VA (formerly of Kankakee, Illinois) died Sunday, April 16, 2017. He was the husband of Sandra Rae Pelletier.

Rodney was born November 15, 1940 in Kankakee, Illinois a son of the late Ralph Pelletier and Isabelle Shipley Pelletier, and brother of the late Ralph Pelletier, Jr.   Rodney retired from Armstrong World Industries in 2000 after more than 35 years of service, was an avid tennis player, enjoyed classical music, and was a stained glass artisan, producing many Tiffany stained glass designs, including an eight by ten foot baptismal scene at Immanuel Baptist Church in Kankakee, Illinois where he was a member and sang in the choir.

In addition to his wife of 57 years, he is survived by his children: Tami Pelletier Guard and her husband Randy of Valparaiso, IN, Teresa Pelletier of North Judson, IN, Tracy Pelletier and wife Evi of Bremerhaven, Germany, Matthew Pelletier and wife Pamela of Forest, VA, one brother Vince Pelletier and wife Shirley of Phoenix, AZ, a sister-in-law Beverly Pelletier of South Bend, IN, eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 21, 2017 at Tharp Funeral Home, 220 Breezewood Drive, Lynchburg, VA 24502.

A Celebration of Rodney’s Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 21, 2017 in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home with Pastor Marvin Suitt of Living Word Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Meade Cemetery in Madison Heights, VA.
