Roger Lee Beeman, 70, of Moneta, passed away on Monday, September 24, 2018 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born in Frostburg, MD on March 3, 1948. A son of the late Oscar Lee Beeman and Flossie Olive Broadwater Beeman, Roger grew up in Lonaconing, MD with his Mother, Father and 6 brothers and sisters. He graduated from Valley High School and was a multi-state champion in wrestling. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Clyde Beeman and Homer Beeman.
Roger served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was very proud of his service. He was a man of great faith who was loved by his family and friends and will be missed by all that knew him. Roger enjoyed fishing in his spare time and loved the outdoors. He was a handyman, craftsman and loved working with his hands, especially on small engines.
Roger is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Sandra Kay Beeman; two children, Crystal Renee Matlock and Trent Lee Beeman and his wife, Angela; four grandchildren, Alexander William Matlock, Abigail Renee Matlock, Adriana Luisa Beeman and Ava Leigh Beeman; four siblings, Edna Clark, Louise Skidmore and husband, Stanley, Robert Beeman and wife, Saundra and Lavona Sines and husband, Ronald, as well as, numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
In lieu of flowers and in memory of Roger, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or the Wounded Warrior Project.
A memorial service and celebration of Roger’s life will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Staunton Baptist Church with Rev. Garry “Buz” Offenbacker officiating.
