Roger Lynn Shaner

Roger Lynn Shaner passed away Friday, May 11, 2012 at his home.

 Born to Thornhill and Dorothy Shaner on November 24, 1946, he was the first of four children.

 Roger graduated from Amherst County High School and Phillips Business College. He served his country in the Vietnam War and later attended Lynchburg College. Even though his health was declining, he enjoyed his work while completing his career days with Flowers Bakery.

 Roger was a quiet and conservative man. It was his pleasure to engage a lively conversation about local and national politics as well as current social issues. He was knowledgeable and opinionated and will be sadly missed by those who knew him best.

 He is survived by his mother, Dorothy Shaner of Madison Heights, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Christinia Wilson (Randall) of Bedford County, and Victoria Reese (Glenn) of Glen Allen, nieces and family members including special friends, Albert and Joyce Windsor.

 A memorial service will be held for Roger at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 14, 2012 in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg with the Rev. Wayne Reese officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
