Ronald “Ronnie” Melvin Burchette, 75, of Lynchburg passed away on Thursday, October 18, 2018. He was the loving husband of Phyllis Parker Burchette for 41 years. Born July 20, 1943 in Maryland, he was the son of the late Robert Burchette and Bessie Buchanan Burchette.
Ronnie is survived by a daughter Annette Gilbert (Rob), a step son Maurice Parker (Pam), a step daughter Lawana Dillard (Bob); sisters Bonnie Harper, Cindy Burchette (Dave) and Sandy Burchette (Rick); a brother Pete Burchette (Stacey); step mother Millie Burchette; grandchildren Robbie, Beth and Noah; step grandson Robert and four great grandchildren. Also surviving is a host of nieces and nephews and special friend Mary Ellen Anthony.
In addition to his parents Ronnie was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Scott Burchette.
A retired metal worker, Ronnie worked at Allen Morrison until its closure and finally retired from Sterling Blower Company. Ronnie served in the US Navy during the Vietnam conflict.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 23, 2018 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. with a service immediately following at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg, with Pastor Ray Kingrea officiating. Burial will take place at Fort Hill Memorial Park. Military Honors to be performed by American Legion Post #16.
