On Friday, May 27, 2022 an angel of mercy dropped by the home of Ronald “Ronnie” Melvin Rice our beloved father, brother and grandfather and escorted him home to be with the Lord.
He was born October 9, 1939 to the late Willie E. Rice and the late Margaret Henderson Rice.
Ronald graduated in 1957 from the Central High School in Amherst County, Virginia following graduation he enlisted in the United States Army where he was stationed in Germany.
Ronald gave his life to Christ at an early age and joined the Lovingston Baptist Church. He later joined the Mount Sinai Baptist Church.
He retired from the Burlington Trucking Company.
Those left to cherish his memory; two Sons Ronald Degaull (Saundra) and Altee Demetraux Rice both of Upper Marlboro, Maryland; Grandchildren; Tamika Brown-Rice, of Upper Marlboro, MD, Ronald D. Rice, Jr. of Washington, DC, and Demetraux Perry-Rice of Waldorf, MD; Great Grandchildren Darius Barr and Demetraux, Rice.
Three brothers; Richard “Dickie” Rice (Wanda) of Madison Heights, VA, Theodore Rice, and Roosevelt Rice (Debbie) both of Detroit, Michigan; Eight sisters Janice Rice Wood of Lynchburg, VA, Barbara Rice, Sandra Rice-Fulse, Vernetta Walk (James), Doris Clark (Leon), Jacqueline Rice, Naomi Rice, and Alisha Ross of Detroit, Michigan. A devoted former wife Althea A. Rice of Amherst, VA.
In additional to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers; Edward “Spec” Rice, Howard Rice, Johnny Rice, Tommy Rice, and Edward Willie Rice and one sister; Shirley Thirkill.
He leaves to cherish precious memories a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A celebration of life will be held Sunday, June 12, 2022, at 2:00 pm at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church.
