Ronald Thacker Foster, Sr.

 

Ronald Thacker Foster, Sr., 72 of Madison Heights, died on Monday, April 15, 2013, at Virginia Baptist Hospital in Lynchburg.  He was the husband of Joan Gowen Foster for 49 years.

Born Wednesday, April 2, 1941, in Lynchburg Ronnie was a son of the late Hamner G. Foster and the late Cecil F. Foster.

In addition to his wife, Ronnie is survived by his sons:  Michael D. Foster, and his wife, Kristyl of Evington, and Ronald T. Foster, Jr., and his wife, Tina of Forest; four grandchildren: Whitney Foster, of Lynchburg, Juliana Foster, of Forest, Kelsey Foster, of Forest, and Jessika Hendricks, of Evington; a brother Thomas J. Foster, and his wife, Sue of Midlothian; a sister: Carolyn F. Davis, and her husband, Sam, of Madison Heights; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ronnie was dedicated and loved his family very much. He was especially proud of his granddaughters. He also loved his dog \"blue\". An avid Virginia Tech fan, he rarely missed a football game in Blacksburg. He was very dedicated to his job at Lynchburg Foundry and later Intermet. He loved bluegrass music and enjoyed going to Galax.  Ronnie had a good sense of humor and enjoyed reading and gardening.  After retirement his favorite thing was going out for breakfast. He will be missed.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM on Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at Elon Baptist Church, A Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at Elon Baptist Church, with the Rev. Steve Tyree officiating. Interment will follow in Briarwood Memorial Gardens, Amherst.
