It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Ronald Alfred Toland of Valrico, FL who left us on March 17, 2025, at the age of 84. Ronald was born in Wheeling, WV. He was a devoted father, husband, and grandfather. Ronald was known for his unwavering love for his family and his resilience in the face of adversity.
An avid sports fan, Ronald was particularly passionate about Florida State University now rejoicing from Heaven alongside his favorite coach, Bobby Bowden. He also enjoyed many years of golf, often outdriving younger players, proving his competitive spirit and love for the game. Ronald was also passionate about dogs, a love he shared with his first wife, Elizabeth, who was deeply involved in breeding and showing dogs. Over the years, Ronald cherished several dogs, with favorites including Rex and Little Bit, who became a grand champion. He found great joy and companionship in his dogs, and in his later years, he and his wife Candace were lovingly cared for by Milo and Bella.
In his professional life, Ronald was a successful businessman for many years. His career was marked by the joy of traveling and working in sales, where he formed lasting relationships and built a reputation as someone who truly cared about his clients. His success in business mirrored his approach to life—hardworking, determined, and always dedicated to those he loved.
Ronald's life was also marked by his steadfast devotion to his son, Keith, who battled multiple sclerosis for most of his life. Ronald’s role as a caregiver was a testament to his boundless love and commitment. He was a man who would do anything for his family, and he did, with a heart full of compassion and selflessness. In his early years, Ronald was a dedicated husband to his first wife, Elizabeth. He lovingly cared for her during her battle with cancer, displaying strength and devotion until her passing. After Elizabeth’s death, Ronald found love once again with Candace Williamson. They married on January 15th, 2011. They shared many joyful years together, and Candace’s family welcomed him with open arms, adding to the warmth and happiness in his life.
Ronald was preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth Toland, and his son, Ronald Keith Toland. Ronald leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. He is survived by his beloved wife, Candace Williamson; daughter, Tracy Toland; son-in-law, David Green; stepson, Cyle (Elizabeth) Williamson; stepdaughter, Dana (Jeff) Barfield; granddaughter, Ashley Elizabeth (Jacob) Rawls and step-grandchildren, Ryan (Analia) Barfield, Zachary (Kenzie) Barfield, Jessica Barfield, and Spencer and Wyatt Williamson.
A graveside service officiated by Rev. Tim Rawls will be held on April 4th at 1 pm in Lynchburg, VA at Virginia Memorial Park for family and friends to honor his memory.
