Rose Shupe Holcombe
November 4, 1933 — January 23, 2021
Rose Shupe Holcombe, 87, went to be with her Lord and Savior, on Saturday, January 23, 2021, at Westminster Canterbury-Lynchburg. She was born November 4, 1933, to Walker M. and Maude Goin Shupe. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Richard A. Holcombe, and her sister, Ruth S. Cordell.
She leaves to cherish her memory her son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Dede Hudson, her daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Barry Cole; her three grandsons, Caleb Hudson and wife Amanda, Joshua Hudson and wife Nicole, and Daniel Abbott and fiancée Misty; her step-grandson, Brent Cole; and her four great-grandchildren, Samuel Hudson, Susannah Hudson, Kaden Abbott, and Amarea Christian; her brother and sister-in-law, W.A. (Bobby) and Linda Shupe and their family; and her Holcombe family.
Rose will be remembered for her kindness to others and her sweet smile which she shared with everyone. She was a member of Heritage Baptist Church and was an active participant in their senior ministries.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Westminster Canterbury and Senior Independence Hospice for their compassionate care of Rose.
A memorial service for Rose S. Holcombe will be held Saturday, July 24, 2021, 11 am at Heritage Baptist Church Chapel (219 Breezewood Dr., Lynchburg, VA). Her children, Steve Hudson (Dede) and Carolyn Cole (Barry) and her brother, Bobby Shupe (Linda) are grateful for all the expressions of sympathy that have been received since Rose’s death on January 23, 2021.
