Ross Alexander Maynor

Ross Alexander Maynor, 82, of Lynchburg, died Wednesday, August 17, 2011.  He was the husband of Faye Bass Maynor for 62 years.  Mr. Maynor was born in Chapel Hill, NC on September 8, 1928, a son of the late Clyde J. Maynor and the late Blanche Stout Maynor.  He was retired from McClean Trucking Company, and was a member of First Baptist Church in Roanoke, VA.

In addition to his wife he is survived by three daughters Lorrie M. Saunders and her husband Burrell of Virginia Beach; Farah M. Marks and her husband Dudley of Lynchburg; and Tracey Turpin of Roanoke.  He is also survived by 5 grandchildren:  Rosswell Saunders and his wife Elizabeth; Lauren Reynolds and her husband Erick; Nikki Terrell; Marilyn Marks; Samuel Marks; 2 great grandchildren: Kaitlyn and Abigail Reynolds; a brother, Harold Maynor, of Statesville, NC, and a sister, Clydia Holland, of Chapel Hill, NC.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Maynor was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen M. Fowler, and a brother C. Matthew Maynor.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 20, 2011, at Howerton Bryan Funeral Home, 1005 W. Main Street, Durham, NC. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at Howerton Bryan Funeral Home, with the Rev. John D. Cochran officiating. Interment will follow at Maplewood Cemetery, Durham, NC.
