Rowland Liggon

January 25, 1954 — May 30, 2025

Rowland Lefew Liggon, a cherished father, grandfather brother, and friend departed this life on May 30, 2025, at the age of 71. Born on January 25, 1954, in Lynchburg, Virginia, to the late Jessie Owen Liggon and Susie Jearlene Reeves Liggon.

Along with his parents, Rowland was predeceased by his brother, Gary Liggon, Sr., and uncle Wilson Reeves who will be remembered alongside him in the hearts of their family.

Rowland was a dynamic individual known for his joyful spirit, sense of humor, and sharply dressed appearance. His character shone brightly through his passions and dedication to family. He was a proud supporter of the Pittsburgh Steelers and wouldn't be caught missing a game while enjoying a cold natural light beer. His personality was described as that of a jokester, and he was a true Aquarius just like his daughter, Kacey.

Rowland's career included roles as a chef at the Boonsboro Country Club and in the medical transportation system, where he demonstrated his commitment to service and excellence. He also proudly served in the United States Air Force, a testament to his dedication and discipline.

He was a devoted member of Silver Grove Baptist Church, engaging actively in the ushers ministry and sharing kindness and laughter with those around him.

Family gatherings held a special place in Rowland's heart, particularly those spent traveling to Atlanta to be with his daughters. He was immensely proud of his family, taking great joy in being a father to Rowlanda Liggon, Kacey Liggon-Smith (Lionel), Jessica Liggon, and Kia Liggon. He also delighted in his role as a proud grandfather to eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immeasurable pride and happiness. In addition to his beloved children and grandchildren, Rowland is also survived by his sister Faith Renee Allen, Aunts, Margaret Reeves, Odel Liggon, and Frances Liggon, devoted cousin, Faye Hicks who would stop, drop, and roll for him, best friend James Calloway, life long, devoted friend Sharon Braxton, and many other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
