Roy Preston Wilson

Roy Preston Wilson, 70, of Lynchburg died Friday, August, 5, 2011, at his residence.

Born in Lynchburg on April 27, 1941, Roy was a son of the late Bessie Crouch Wilson and Dave Wilson.   He attended Marsh Memorial United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by brothers, Albert Lewis Wilson, Sr., David C. Wilson, Howard (Jack) Wilson, and Carl Wayne (Shorty) Wilson, Sr.

Roy is survived by four daughters, Sharon Grooms of Madison Heights, Cindy Hubbard and her husband David of Bedford, Rebecca Tweedy of Lynchburg, Rhonda Wilson and her husband Bryan of Lynchburg; one sister Etta Wilson and her husband Snook of Lynchburg; two brothers,  Lyle Wilson and his wife Carol and Pete McHugh and his wife Ardella, both of Lynchburg; nine grandchildren, Whitney Grooms, David Harlow, Julie Hubbard, Ryan Grooms, Uriah Grooms, Charlie Grooms, Daniel Grooms, Laura Wilson and Anna Wilson; a friend and companion Delores Moon, and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 3- 4:30 p.m. Sunday, August 7, 2011 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg, and at other times at the residence of Snook and Etta Wilson.  A funeral service will be held at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg, on Monday, August 8, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Mike Dodson officiating.  Interment will follow at Virginia Memorial Park.
