Roy Sherman Austin, 75, of Huddleston, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 21, 2018. He was born in Bedford on November 7, 1943. The son of the late Roy Synkler Austin and Verona Pearl Mitchell Austin. He was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife, Martha “Dianne” Leftwich Austin of 46 years of marriage.
Roy retired from Rubatex after 38 years of employment. He was an avid beef cattle farmer. Roy was a U.S. Army veteran, and an active member of the Huddleston Life Saving Crew in years past. He attended Huddleston Community Church.
Roy is survived by his four children, David Sherman Austin, Kelly Leigh Austin Tuck and Kevin Noel Tuck, Sarah Elizabeth Austin Fisher and Edward Glod, Jr., Julie Dianne Austin-Witcher and Brett Michael Witcher; three grandsons: Codey Wayne Turner ,Christian Noel Tuck and Nathan Austin Tuck.
A Celebration of Roy’s life will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at Bethesda United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers please make memorial contributions in Roy’s memory to the Huddleston Life Saving Crew 5349 Smith Mountain Lake Parkway, Huddleston, VA. 24104.
